Eden Camp
Eden Camp is an award winning museum set in the grounds of an original World War 2 prisoner of war camp originally built in 1942 to house Italian and German prisoners of war. There is a children's play area styled as an army assault course. There is a cafe. Check the website for special events. Flamingo Land

NATIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM
A must for anyone with an interest in our railways. The home of Mallard which broke the world speed record for steam locamotives - a record that still stands, and a replica of Stephenson's Rocket. The museum is in two locations: York and Shildon (north of Darlington). If going to York, you are best using the Park and Ride service from Rawcliffe Bar (which is north of York). North York Moors Railway
The North York Moors railway provides 18 miles of steam locomotive railway running through the wonderful scenery of the North York Moors. Made famous after featuring in the Harry Potter films. Ryedale SWIM and Fitness Centre
Not to be confused with the Ryedale Sports Centre. This swim and fitness centre is located on Mill Lane in Pickering about a 25 minute drive from Forge Cottage. Ryedale Folk Museum
